Eighth World War One Lesson

Yesterdays lesson we went straight into our show and did a run threw, I thought that once we did the whole thing together it looked really effective and the energy built up over the piece and made it look even better, after we joined the other theatre group and and saw there piece, i really liked there's and it was very creative, especially with the shirts and when the girls where dancing with them draped round there shoulders as if they where dancing with there husbands at war.

we went threw the school and marked where each piece will be and got a better feel for how the show will be staged in the different places in the school. i think it is a very different way of performing but will be a good experience.

Seventh World War One Lesson

Yesterday we spent a lot of time working on our trenches piece of work, it was quite challenging as one of  the groups had changed there order so it was a bit confusing, but we found a new way to do the piece which i think looks very effective.

we also worked on our trench foot piece and i really enjoyed this as it is cleverly weaves into the trenches piece and the pieces overall climax looks great when we all end up marching in 4 lines.

Sixth World War One Lesson

Yesterday we only had an hours lesson as we were lucky enough to have a touring theatre company come and perform for us. in this hours lesson we all taught each other are trenches routines and then did them all together.

After that we went to the play, it was a four person cast with one girl and three men, i think that it worked really well with a small cast and it was clear that they where very close as an ensemble. The play was really good and really got us thinking about how war has adapted to our modern day society, the way that the play was presented was also very clever as they cut between the old days and modern day and showed us that the riots is now a piece of history as well as when people did not believe in equality.

Fifth World War One Lesson

For are first lesson back after the half term we went over the scenes that where devised last term and rehearsed them to remind us all of what we had done before we broke up, this was the waltz scene and our ration lines then we split off into our theatre groups and started to devise our scenes for the 15 minute plays.

Our class's stimulus is the trenches and yesterday we got the first part of out piece done, it is set in the battle field and shows some of the lines of defence they had in world war one, the front line, support line and people on rest. I was in the front line and we tried to use different levels and changing levels to make our piece look effective.

At the end of the lesson we added a piece to the beginning of the scene where we are acting as soldiers getting ready to go back out to war, putting our shoes and socks on and in my case i chose to tie a bandage around my leg as if i had bee injured.
